P is for Poet - Fanny J. Crosby

My granddaughter introduced me to the works of Fanny J. Crosby. This fascinating lady, blind from infancy, wrote her first poem at age 8:
Oh, what a happy soul I am, Although I cannot see, I am resolved that in this world Contented I will be.
How many blessings I enjoy That other people don't To weep and sigh because I'm blind I cannot nor I won't.
Here is another famous quote, said to her mother:
"Mother, if I had a choice, I would still choose to remain blind...for when I die; the first face I will ever see will be the face of my blessed Saviour."
A true inspiration for all times, Fanny also wrote many hymns. You might recognize a few, such as “Blessed Assurance” or “Praise Him, Praise Him.”
Thank you, Elianna, for sharing your school work with grandma!
