A is for Alpaca

Ten years ago, a television commercial advertised adorable docile creatures that looked like nothing I had ever seen before--alpacas. My husband and I visited Wisconsin alpaca farms and attended information sessions. We were hooked.

We are pictured here with one of our first alpacas, six-month-old Mya.

Like the heroine in the book I'm writing, we learned the ropes of country living. There was never a dull moment!

Alpacas each have their own personality. They can be as tame and friendly as the amount of time spent getting them that way. The more time spent, the better the results.

Alpaca products...scarves, gloves, rugs...that's a topic for another day.

We've touched the tip of the proverbial alpaca iceberg.
